Lee and Dallas are joined by Hannah Ryan to discuss 20th Century Women and Trespass Against Us.
20th Century Women is set in 1979 Santa Barbara, California, Dorothea Fields is a determined single mother in her mid-50s who is raising her adolescent son, Jamie, at a moment brimming with cultural change and rebellion. Dorothea enlists the help of two younger women – Abbie, a free-spirited punk artist living as a boarder in the Fields’ home and Julie, a savvy and provocative teenage neighbour – to help with Jamie’s upbringing. Trespass Against Us sees three generations of the rowdy Cutler family who live as outlaws in some of Britain’s richest countryside – hunting hares, ram-raiding stately homes, and taunting the police. Struggling to retain a way of life fast becoming extinct, Chad Cutler ends up caught between his father’s archaic principles and trying to do right by his kids, whilst the full force of the law is finally catching up with him. In A24 Hour News, we look at the forthcoming Midsummer director's cut and preview our next interview with Patrica Rozema, the writer/director of Into The Forest.
