The Nerd Party ("we", "us") is an independent podcast network. This policy explains what information we collect, what we do not collect, and how we use YouTube API Services.
THE PUBLIC WEBSITE AND PODCASTS
We do not run analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party tracking cookies on thenerdparty.com. We do not have listener accounts, and we do not ask you to register.
Our contact form does not send anything to us directly — it opens a message in your own email program, addressed to the relevant show. Nothing you type is transmitted to us or stored anywhere until you choose to send that email yourself.
Episode audio is streamed from our podcast host, Spreaker. Playing an episode makes a request to Spreaker's servers, and their privacy policy applies to that request. Our pages also link out to podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, TuneIn, Deezer, Amazon Music, iHeart, Podchaser and Podcast Addict. Once you follow one of those links you are on their service, under their privacy policy, not ours.
If you email us, we keep your message so we can reply to it. We do not add you to any mailing list and we do not sell, rent or share your address.
THE HOST CONSOLE (OUR STAFF-ONLY TOOL)
We operate a private tool called the Host Console, used only by our own hosts to manage our own shows. It is not open to the public and is not indexed by search engines.
For the people who use it, we store: their email address, their name, and their role; short-lived one-time sign-in links; and a session token stored in a cookie so they stay signed in. That cookie is strictly necessary for signing in and is not used for tracking or advertising. We also store the promotional posts our hosts write and schedule, along with any image or video they attach to one.
YOUTUBE API SERVICES
The Host Console uses YouTube API Services. By using it, our hosts are also agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's own handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
We use YouTube API Services only to manage our own YouTube channel, @thenerdparty. Through them we: upload short promotional videos of our own episodes; set thumbnail images on our own videos; correct the titles of our own uploads; and read back our own video and playlist listings so we can match an episode to its video.
We do not access, collect or store data belonging to any other YouTube channel, and we do not use YouTube API Services to gather information about viewers. The only Google credential we hold is an authorisation token for our own channel, kept as an encrypted secret and used solely for the actions above.
Anyone who has granted our application access to a Google account can revoke it at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access immediately stops our ability to act on that channel. When our stored Google authorisation is revoked or expires, we delete it.
KEEPING AND DELETING INFORMATION
We keep Host Console accounts for as long as someone hosts a show with us, and remove them when they no longer do. Sign-in links expire within minutes of being issued and are single-use. Sessions expire after 30 days. Scheduled posts and their attachments are kept as a record of what we published.
CHILDREN
Our site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
CHANGES
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
