We've Got Time - Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026

We’ve Got Time feels like dropping into someone else’s life for a day. Written by Emma Louise Lerner and directed by Isabel Dirks, it follows Dani (Emma Louise Lerner), a young stand-up comedian with endometriosis, as she navigates her health and career, questioning her relationship and trying to work out what comes next.

There is something distinctly Seinfeld about the comedy too. The stand-up elements slot naturally into the world of the play, while the characters’ conversations often feel funny simply because they are hanging out and being themselves. Seinfeld famously operated under the mantra of “no hugging, no learning”, refusing the conventional sitcom demand that every episode end with a neat moral or moment of personal growth. We’ve Got Time isn’t quite that cynical, but it shares that belief that people can simply exist. Dani doesn’t need to have solved her career, relationship or future by the time we leave her. Sometimes life is just a series of conversations, bad decisions, jokes and small realisations.

That feels particularly important with Dani’s endometriosis. Like her career, relationship and future, it isn’t something that will simply be resolved when the curtain falls. The structure reflects that ongoing uncertainty. In that sense, the title becomes a quiet reassurance: Dani doesn’t need to have everything figured out yet. She’s got time.

There are also echoes of Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love in its warm, messy portrait of friendship, romance and the strange uncertainty of trying to become an adult. We’ve Got Time understands that sometimes there is no grand revelation. Sometimes you just spend a day with people you care about, laugh at their problems, and then let them get on with their lives.
