Last Orders - Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026

Last Orders is an easy-going slice of life that never takes itself particularly seriously. John and Jeremy run their father’s old bar with the help of a waitress, filling their days with beer, line dancing and an exaggerated performance of American masculinity. When someone from their past returns, the arrival threatens to expose what really happened years ago. What makes the show most enjoyable is the decision to have an all-female cast play these larger-than-life men. The drawn-on moustaches, exaggerated mannerisms, drinking and endless crude jokes turn the characters into a parody of the macho Southern American stereotype. The humour is at its best when it becomes deliberately absurd, particularly as the increasingly chaotic plot begins to fall apart and the dialogue starts throwing in wildly modern  references. Some of the early jokes relying on the "dumb hillbilly" stereotype feel familiar and repetitive, but the show becomes much stronger once it embraces its own ridiculousness.
