Eve And Adam - Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026

Eve And Adam is a wonderfully camp and highly funny show, powered by a script that is as silly as it is inventive. Genevieve Goodman has found a great time-travel hook in asking what might have happened if Adam had eaten the apple instead of Eve, then running gleefully with the possibilities. 

Saphia Drapeau steals the show as our time-travelling liberal determined to fix the world at its origin and she is gloriously, comically horny . She means incredibly well, but her attempts to dismantle centuries of patriarchy are complicated by the fact that she is also self-obsessed, hopelessly romantic and, more often than not, motivated by the hope of getting one over on her ex-boyfriend. Her grand plan to save women is at least partly fuelled by wanting him to see what he has lost.  

The whole cast brings a wonderful theatre-kid energy to the production, where every idea is pushed to its most ridiculous conclusion and everyone commits completely to the bit. Kathleen Salazar’s Angel and Simon Rabatin’s God make for an excellent double act, matched by the image-conscious pairing of Jacob Schorsch’s press-up-loving Adam and Mia Walsh Corbett’s Eve, who is surprisingly reluctant to see the world change when, from her perspective, she’s already got it pretty good.

That commitment is where much of the show's charm lies. How often would an angel travel into the future specifically to watch the atrocious Cats? Probably only in Eve And Adam. The play has a wonderfully anarchic attitude towards its biblical mythology, pop culture and politics, happily throwing them all into the same blender and seeing what comes out.
