Dinner With The Wolves - Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026

Dinner With The Wolves turns the dinner party into a pressure cooker. Set across twenty years, the play moves between a night in Cabourg, Wales in 2006 and the present day, as old friends reunite to welcome home Arthur Wolfe, a man who is currently missing from his own dinner party. Emily, Arthur’s wife, her sister Hannah, Hannah’s partner Rob and the mysterious Freddie all bring their own histories and agendas to the table, while Rob in particular has reason to hold a grudge after Arthur shafted him in a business deal involving a medical drug that may not have been ready for market. As the two timelines run in parallel, the small talk becomes increasingly brittle and the evening slowly exposes the secrets beneath the surface.

​There’s something deliciously British about the play’s fascination with the performance of being fine. These are people who can laugh, drink and exchange pleasantries while quietly plotting revenge, their dinner party becoming a breeding ground for the kind of middle-class double-speak where everyone maintains the social ritual while privately tearing each other apart. The script mixes dark comedy, satire and thriller, exploring friendship, power, class and the particular expectations placed on modern masculinity. The plot does become somewhat convoluted, with plenty of moving parts and competing agendas to keep track of, but its strongest moments come when that polished veneer starts to crack.
