Best Worst Advice is a glorious fever dream of 50 minutes, fusing improvised dance with wildly unqualified life counsel on everything from relationships to dieting, dead rats to fighting dogs. It’s chaotic, silly, and a showcase of improvised dance.
Wearing matching silver tops and green-striped trousers, the trio of Anne Gehman, Emily Aust and Erin Tracy - roam the space with retro corded phones in hand, fielding questions from the audience. Each query sparks both a burst of ill-advised wisdom and a fresh, off-kilter dance routine that ricochets between styles: a jitter of contemporary here, a splash of Coyote Ugly there and a tumble into full-blown physical comedy. The matching costumes evoke the discipline and conformity of dance performances where performers drill routines until they’re seamless. But here that structure is gleefully dismantled. Instead of precision, the choreography is hijacked by absurd prompts, creating a playful clash between control and chaos. Even the strangest questions or advice can reworked into something unexpectedly vibrant to watch in the hands of our trio. The result is a show that’s playful, unpredictable, and joyfully unpolished. It’s an hour where bad advice becomes good theatre.
