​There is a gentle stillness to Am I Losing My Mind Or Just My Figure? that makes it feel less like a conventional play and more like a meditation on a life quietly being turned upside down. Fin’s world shifts when she unexpectedly becomes pregnant, while she continues navigating the precarious realities of working as a zero-hour cycle courier and freelance illustrator. Genevieve Labuschagne, who plays Fin and co-writes the piece, gives the character space to simply exist. The play is not constantly filling the air with dialogue or explaining every corner of Fin’s inner world. Instead, it takes its time, allowing silence and stillness to become part of the storytelling. That patience makes the moments when Fin’s pain finally surfaces all the more affecting.

There is something particularly touching in Fin’s relationship with the Catholic Church. She is not presented as obviously religious, yet she finds comfort in its physical spaces, whether wandering through its gardens or sitting inside the church itself. It becomes a place of contemplation, a quiet refuge from a world that suddenly feels uncertain. This is a warm and deeply human piece about uncertainty, vulnerability and finding moments of peace when life refuses to go to plan. Its gentleness never feels empty. Instead, it gives Fin’s experience room to breathe.
