During the 124 days before the release of The Last Jedi, I’m reviewing all 124 minutes of the theatrical version of
The Empire Strikes Back. Join me and together we will watch Star Wars….
In 42:00, Luke crash-lands for the second time in 11 minutes. If he's so strong with the Force, how come he can't sense his way through a morning fog? Can't he at least ease up on the gas? Sure, he'll bulls-eye womp rats in his T-16 back home, but that Death Star Trench Run really went to his head. This is probably why we never see him flying through space battles in any of the other movies. Look, he's great on the ropes course and scored a 9.0 on the floor routine, but got a 5.1 on his controlled water landing...
Our skies would be a lot safer if we had less Skywalkers and more Sullenbergers.
Best Performance by a Human: Luke fighting his controls for a safe water landing.
Best Performance by a Non-human: R2-D2 - who could learn some "rising" techniques from Nosferatu.
Best Line: Luke's panicked "I know, I know! All the scopes are dead. I can't see a thing."
Rating: 135 out of 150 passengers on the Miracle on the Hudson flight.
